About Bore Snakes

The Bore Snake is a fancy, weighted cord produced by Hoppes

, available in various sizes ranging from 22 caliber to 12 gauge. Cleaning is greatly simplified over the patch cleaning method.

To clean a weapon with a bore snake, simply open the action and drop the weighted end down into the barrel. Feed it down through the weapon, and it should emerge from the other end. Once the weighted end is through, pull the rest of the bore snake through the bore. If you wish to check for buildup of material, a bore light is recommended.
