308 AR Compatibility Chart
There are several manufacturers of 308 caliber AR-family rifles now. Most of them will interchange with one system or another, and it can be tough to keep track of which one's which.
- Please note that AR-10 and DPMS magazines will not interchange!

Use of G3 mags requires modification of upper (slight widening) at a machine shop on standard uppers. JG Machining, of San Diego, offers pre-widened uppers. |

Cobb's system is completely proprietary, and is not compatible with any other lower manufacturer. Since Cobb was purchased by Bushmaster in 2007, the MCR has been buried and there is little chance of its revival. |

For decades, this was by far the most popular 308 AR platform in existence. Until DPMS started cutting into their market, Armalite refused to license its receiver design. The more-open DPMS pattern far surpassed it in market share in the 2010's. |

Fulton's 308 receivers are milled from billet, like POF's, and carry a comparable price tag. |
About AR-10, DPMS, and SR-25 Magazines
Every source I've read says that DPMS and SR-25 magazines are cross-compatible. That is to say, you can exchange magazines between DPMS 308 rifles and SR-25's, with no issues. This is not the case for AR-10 magazines, which seem to be their own entity.
About G3 Magazines
The G3 magazine will work with certain CMMG lowers. However, it requires a wider upper receiver than the standard. As of 12/15/09, the only manufacturer making these wider upper receivers is JD Machine, of San Diego. It is possible to make a G3 magazine fit with any other DPMS upper, however it requires milling some aluminum off of your upper receiver.
